Do you need a practical, lightweight and reliable hive for expanding your apiary? Langstroth Jumbo nucleus hive for 6 frames is designed to create stable thermal conditions for a new bee colony, accelerate its development and at the same time make your daily work easier. You can use it during the season as well as for overwintering smaller units.

Uses appreciated by both beginners and experienced beekeepers

A nucleus hive is more than just a smaller hive – it's a universal tool for several important beekeeping operations. It most commonly serves for creating splits and swarm colonies, which thanks to good insulation helps them gain strength faster, especially in cooler spring weather. Just insert several brood combs and the bees can more easily maintain themselves "warm" in the compact space and breed better.

You can also use it for example for:

Queen rearing: Suitable environment for queen establishment after mating flights and stabilization of young colony.
Overwintering: Thanks to the Jumbo system and insulation, it's ideal for overwintering backup queens or smaller splits.
Transport and moving: Safe transportation of small colonies to new locations without unnecessary stress.
Confinement: Temporary space reduction for weaker colonies so they don't suffer from cold in a large hive.

Insulation that retains heat and saves bee energy

The hive box is made from extruded polystyrene (XPS / styrofoam) with 30 mm thickness. In practice, this means better thermal stability – bees are less burdened with heating the space in early spring and at the same time the hive doesn't overheat unnecessarily in summer. The material is non-absorbent and very lightweight, which you'll appreciate when carrying and during routine inspections.

Included is an insulated cover made of galvanized sheet metal with 30mm insulation, which protects against rain and limits heat loss from above. Under the cover is placed a crown board film, thanks to which you can quickly inspect the colony while minimally disturbing it.

Adjustable ventilation for healthy microclimate

Proper ventilation is key for bee comfort even during transport. The nucleus hive has bottom adjustable ventilation, which helps maintain suitable climate and reduces the risk of overheating during transport of splits. You can easily adjust ventilation to current conditions and colony strength.
