You can choose from Czech-made thermoplastic spacers or conical spacers with a recess for a small nail. It is also possible to buy colored spacers, which beekeepers use to distinguish the breeding years of their queen bees. Nowadays, you can also get metal spacing combs that are mounted inside the hive box. The frames simply slide into these combs, eliminating the need for individual spacers.

Installation and Proper Use of Spacers
When installing spacers, precise placement is essential. The recommended layout is the “two on one side, two on the other” diagonal method, ensuring an equal distance between all frames. Typically, spacers are attached to the side bars so that a gap of 8–10 mm remains between frames.
Beekeeper’s Tip: To simplify installation, mark the spacer positions with a pencil or template before attaching them. Once all spacers are in place, the frames will fit neatly and the spacing will remain consistent throughout the hive boxes.
