Category: Opal Markers for Queen Bees

Welcome to our Opal Marker section, where we focus on modern and effective methods for marking queen bees. This innovative tool has become an essential accessory for every beekeeper who values accuracy and order in their apiary. Using opal markers allows for effortless tracking of the age and productivity of queens, greatly improving hive management.

Complete Range of Opal Markers

Our opal markers are available in two versions: with or without number prints. Each pack contains a sheet with 100 markers and numbers ranging from 1 to 99. Choose the version that best suits your needs.

Colors and Identification

The marker color changes each year, making it easy to identify the age of your queen bee. Each color corresponds to a specific year, according to the following key:

  • Blue: 2020, 2025, 2030…

  • White: 2021, 2026, 2031…

  • Yellow: 2022, 2027, 2032…

  • Red: 2023, 2028, 2033…

  • Green: 2024, 2029, 2034…

Adhesives for Marker Application

For attaching markers to queen bees, we offer two types of adhesive. One is based on natural shellac, which is odorless and gentle on the queen, while the other is made from synthetic resin. If the shellac adhesive thickens over time, it can be diluted with alcohol.

Application Procedure

Applying an opal marker is straightforward if you follow these steps:

  1. Secure the queen using a queen catcher so that her thorax is accessible.

  2. Use tweezers to remove the correct marker from the sheet and apply a small amount of adhesive.

  3. Attach the marker to the queen’s thorax and allow it to dry briefly.

  4. Release the queen back into the hive.

Why Choose Opal Markers?

  • Clarity and Organization: Easily identify and monitor queens in your apiary using the annual color system.

  • Quality and Testing: Our markers are certified by the Bee Research Institute in Dol – guaranteeing their reliability.

  • Durability: Marker materials ensure color stability, resisting fading even after several years.
