Fine mesh - 5x5 - 1m
Plastic Mesh POLYNET – 5 × 5 mm mesh (width 78 cm)
Do you want a practical mesh for your beekeeping operation that will help with monitoring the health status of your bee colony as well as obtaining bee products? POLYNET plastic mesh is a proven choice for modern beekeeping. This fine yet very strong polyethylene (PE) mesh withstands hive conditions well and easily resists freezing temperatures.
Main Uses in Beekeeping
1. Precise Varroa Monitoring
Regular monitoring of mite drop is the foundation of proper colony management. Mesh with 5 × 5 mm openings is excellent as a covering layer for monitoring boards. When placed on a bottom board insert, it prevents bees from removing fallen Varroa destructor mites, so you get an accurate picture of natural mite drop and treatment effectiveness, allowing you to better time your next intervention.
2. Collection of Clean Propolis Without Impurities
POLYNET can also be used as a simple propolis screen. Place it on the top bars of frames (instead of foil or inner cover). Bees naturally seal the gaps with propolis. Once the mesh is sealed, remove it and let it cool (e.g., in a freezer). The propolis becomes brittle and easily crumbles out when the mesh is gently flexed – resulting in clean propolis without wood and wax impurities.
3. Durable Protection Outside the Hive
The mesh also finds use outside the apiary, for example, in protecting young trees and shrubs from wildlife browsing. The material is durable, holds its shape well, doesn't tear, and is freeze-resistant, making it suitable for year-round use.
Product Description
Flexible yellow plastic mesh sold by the meter. Regular 5 × 5 mm openings allow mite drop and good air circulation while preventing bee passage. The mesh is lightweight, easily cut to the required size according to hive type, and is hygienically safe.
