Coarse mesh15x15 - 1m
Plastic Mesh Polynet (15 × 15 mm mesh) for Varroa Monitoring
Get a more accurate overview of Varroa destructor mite drop and simplify your debris sampling. Plastic mesh Polynet helps keep the bottom board with debris "out of reach" of bees, so monitoring results better correspond to the actual condition of the colony.
Why put mesh on the hive bottom
The purpose of this coarser mesh is to separate bees from the drop board. Bees are very clean and if they have access to the board, they often remove dead mites and other debris from it. This artificially reduces the drop and you can easily underestimate the level of infestation.
The mesh is simply placed on the bottom board. Thanks to the 15 × 15 mm openings, debris and mites fall through, but bees can no longer reach them. The sample for veterinary examination and for your own inspection thus remains complete and undistorted.
Durable material and other uses
The mesh is made of quality polyethylene, which is designed for long-term use even in demanding conditions around hives:
- UV stable and weather resistant.
- Frost resistant – does not become brittle or crack in cold.
- Washable and durable – suitable for repeated use over multiple seasons.
Beyond beekeeping, you can also use it in the garden, for example as protection for tree and shrub trunks against animal browsing. It is flexible enough for easy wrapping around trunks, while maintaining its shape and strength.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Description |

Tip: The mesh can be easily cut with ordinary scissors. When selecting length, calculate the sum of the widths of your hives and add a small reserve for precise placement.
