Czech metal queen excluder - 380x475 mm
Metal Queen Excluder 38 × 47.5 cm – Clean Honey Combs Without Brood
Keep the brood chamber and honey super clearly separated in your hive. The metal queen excluder allows you to reliably prevent the queen bee from accessing the honey super section, so she won't lay eggs in the honey super combs. The result is combs designated exclusively for honey stores, simpler work during honey harvest, and cleaner extraction without brood contamination. The wire construction with smooth, round crossbars is gentle on bees and, when used correctly, does not damage worker bee wings.

Queen Excluder – Metal – 38 × 47.5 cm
Queen Excluder – Metal is used as a simple and effective barrier between the brood chamber and honey super. The spacing of openings is designed to safely allow worker bees to pass through, while the queen (and usually drones as well) remains in the brood chamber. This keeps your honey super frames and foundation without brood and provides clearer organization of space in the hive.
There are several types of queen excluders available on the market – from stamped ones (e.g., Hannemann type) to wire variants. Wire excluders are particularly popular because they typically don't have sharp edges that could damage worker bee wings. In practice, it's advisable not to place the excluder directly tight against the top bars of frames, but to ensure positioning that allows bees to move freely under the excluder.
You can also use the excluder in queen rearing – for example, to separate the queen from capped queen cells – or when working with drones (e.g., during their selection and separation). Metal construction excels in strength, dimensional stability, and long service life. The typical round crossbars contribute to gentle bee passage. Other sizes are also available for various hive systems.
