Varroa Cleaner - Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

The Varroa Cleaner acid vaporizer is a simple and cost-effective version of the Varrox vaporizer. The Varroa Cleaner vaporizer is designed for vaporizing oxalic acid dihydrate. The acid in powder form is heated, causing it to vaporize. The device is designed to be powered by a car battery (12V, batteries with capacity greater than 40 Ah are recommended). The power consumption of the device is 130W.

When applying, always ensure that the Varroa Cleaner is inserted into the bottom of the hive, as the vaporized acid rises. Always place it at a safe distance from wax and other flammable materials (at least 2 cm). The Varroa Cleaner can reach temperatures of up to 400 degrees Celsius. If you leave it close to wooden parts of the hive, it may cause darkening or blackening of the wood. In such cases, it is advisable to use a suitable insulating insert between the Oxavar and the wood (e.g., a piece of metal sheet or non-flammable insulation wool).

Dosage: Generally, for single-box hives, 1g of acid (1 teaspoon) is used, and for two or more box hives, 2g of acid (2 teaspoons). 1 gram is one teaspoon of loosely filled acid (not packed, without a heap). Always consult with your veterinarian about the exact dosage.

Treatment should be carried out when bee activity is low, when most of them are in the hive, but the temperature during treatment should not be lower than 2 degrees Celsius. Before treatment, properly seal the entire hive so that the acid vapors escape as slowly as possible. Also seal the bottom of the hive to limit the amount of fresh air entering, which would dilute the vapors. The acid vaporization time is approximately two and a half minutes, after which disconnect the device and leave it in the hive for another two minutes (until it cools down). Then remove it and close the bottom. After another ten minutes, you can open the hive.
