Swiss Biene nuc corrugated for one queen EPS
Mating Nuc for 1 Queen – Hardened Polystyrene and Plastic
Do you need a simple, reliable and cost-effective way to raise and mate a queen bee? This mating nuc for one queen is made from hardened polystyrene combined with durable plastic and is suitable for both beginner and experienced beekeepers. The polystyrene body including the roof provides excellent thermal insulation, which helps maintain a stable microclimate in the hive – essential especially when there is only a smaller colony of bees in the mating nuc.
Well-designed Equipment for Quick Deployment
The mating nuc is designed as a practical "starter" aid for queen rearing. It includes 3 miniature plastic frames, so you can start immediately without lengthy preparation. This type of hive is intended primarily for short-term rearing and mating, not for long-term operation. Due to its small dimensions, you can also manage with a minimum of bees for populating (shook swarm), thus saving the strength of production colonies.
Practical Use and Recommendations for Safe Rearing
You can place an unmated queen or mature queen cell in the mating nuc. However, with miniature mating nucs, you need to account for rapid development in the hive: as soon as the queen starts laying, she must be removed in time (transferred for use) and then another queen or queen cell must be added. Due to the small space (23.5 × 16 × 15 cm), the frames quickly fill with brood and there may be a risk of swarming. Throughout the entire period, it is advisable to continuously feed the bees, ideally with sugar paste, because a small colony has limited foraging power and finds it harder to secure sufficient stores from nature.
