Bee escape serves as a one-sided enter for bees. It serves to remove the bees from the honeycomb and move them to the queen frames. We use this one day before to get as many bees as possible out of beehive boxes with honey that we will manipulate. Usually, it is enough to place the slip in the hive in the evening before dialing. In one night, most bees can be pulled into the herd.
Small bee escape with 2 holes
The small bee escape serves as a one-way passage for bees. It is used for removing bees from the honey super and moving them to the brood chamber. This escape is used before honey extraction to get as many bees as possible out of the supers we will be handling. Usually it is sufficient to place the escape in the hive the evening before extraction. In one night, most bees manage to move down to the brood nest.
When using the escape, it is necessary to pay attention to its cleanliness, because it happens that bees seal it with propolis. In that case it is necessary to clean it, for example it can be boiled for several minutes in sodium carbonate or the propolis can be dissolved in a concentrated alcohol solution. The escape is mounted to the hardboard inner cover, which is part of every Langstroth hive. If there are still many bees in the super after using the escape, then it is appropriate to check whether the queen got into it and was laying eggs in part of the combs, because in that case the bees will stay near these combs, or directly near the queen.
