Plastic Bee Feeder 1.8 l – Heinrich Holtermann

The practical Heinrich Holtermann plastic feeder with a capacity of 1.8 l is designed for convenient top feeding of bee colonies. It facilitates stimulative feeding of bees in spring as well as replenishing stores during autumn feeding. The well-thought-out design made of flexible plastic allows for quick handling, safe access for bees to the feed syrup, and more efficient work in the apiary.

Easy Placement on the Super

The feeder is simply placed on the top super of the hive. To use it, an inner cover with a corresponding opening is needed, or alternatively an empty super with a hardboard insert. The feeder is placed directly over the opening through which bees access the feed from below. The central opening of the feeder is covered with the included transparent cover, and the entire space is then closed with the outer hive lid.

Transparent Cover Without the Need for Weighting

An important component of the feeder is the transparent cover made of sufficiently dense material. It separates the bees from the open surface of the feed syrup and helps reduce the risk of drowning. The cover does not float nor lift up after the syrup is poured in, so there is no need to weigh it down with stones or other materials. The transparent design also allows you to continuously monitor the amount of remaining feed and the activity of bees during consumption without having to open the feeder.
