Queen excluder - yellow plastic - 420x377 mm
Queen (Excluder) Grid – Quality Cast Yellow Plastic – 420 × 377 mm
Queen excluder made of quality rigid yellow plastic is available in several sizes. It is manufactured by casting from solid plastic with a thickness of 1.9–2.0 mm, which is food-grade safe.
In supered hives (not only square floor plan), the queen excluder serves to prevent the queen from passing into the honey super and laying brood in honey combs. According to your needs, you can easily trim it to the required size – even after modification, the grid remains firm and holds its shape well. We offer multiple sizes, which you can select below the images; the price varies by variant (the stated price is for the smallest version). The openings have carefully rounded edges so that bees are not injured when passing through and can easily pass through the grid to additional supers.
Main Benefits for Beekeepers and Bee Colony
The queen excluder helps maintain a clear separation of brood chamber and honey super, so you minimize the presence of brood in honey super frames. Honey harvesting is therefore more organized, faster, and more hygienic. The rounded edges of the openings are gentle on worker bees – during intensive activity during honey flow, bees damage their wings less and are not unnecessarily weakened. Compared to metal excluders, plastic does not corrode, does not create a significant thermal bridge, and is easily cleaned of propolis and wax.
