Construction Designed for Queen Safety

The ZANDER cage is based on proven breeding practice and protects the queen from attacks by worker bees. One side is enclosed with fine mesh – this ensures good ventilation and allows contact with bees and their pheromones without direct harm to the queen. The other side features a hinged grid with circular openings, firmly attached with rivets, which allows you to easily service the cage when inserting the queen cell and during subsequent handling.

Feeding and Comfort After Emergence

The bottom part includes a shallow queen cell cup designed for feed. Simply fill the cup with candy (sugar paste) so the queen has immediate access to food after emergence. Also included is a breeding plug that facilitates closing the cage and safe handling of the queen cell. The cage is suitable for rearing in an incubator as well as for use directly in the colony – the queen remains protected until the moment you decide to release her.

Easy Hygiene and Long Lifespan

The cage is made of durable plastic that allows for quick and thorough cleaning and disinfection. After use, you can wash it with warm soapy water or disinfect it in a soda solution. Regular hygiene helps limit the transmission of unwanted pathogens between individual breeding cycles. Thanks to solid construction, the cages will serve you reliably for many seasons.
