Step-by-Step Guide to Making Beeswax Candles

Making beeswax candles is a rewarding and creative process that lets you craft beautiful, naturally scented candles for your home or as thoughtful gifts. Follow the simple steps below and experience the magic of handmade beeswax candle making.

Materials Needed

  1. Beeswax: Use 100% pure beeswax, available in pellets or block form.

  2. Wicks: Choose the wick width suitable for the size of your planned candle.

  3. Silicone Molds: Select molds in your preferred shape and size.

  4. Thermometer: For measuring wax temperature.

  5. Wax Melting Pot: A heat-resistant container, ideally used in a water bath.

  6. Wooden Sticks or Wick Holders: To keep the wick centered in the mold.

Candle-Making Process

  1. Preparing the Wax:

    • Cut the wax blocks into smaller pieces or use pellets.

    • Place the wax in a container and gently heat it in a water bath to 70–75°C, monitoring with a thermometer. Avoid overheating to prevent bubbles or shrinkage during cooling.

  2. Preparing the Mold:

    • Thread the wick through the bottom of the silicone mold using a wick needle, leaving 2–3 cm extending from both ends.

    • Secure the wick in the center of the mold with a wooden stick or holder to keep it upright and stable.

  3. Pouring the Wax:

    • Carefully pour the melted wax into the mold, starting from the center.

    • Pour slowly to minimize air bubbles. Allow the candle to cool at room temperature — smaller molds may take a few hours, larger ones up to a full day.

  4. Finishing the Candle:

    • Once fully cooled, gently remove the wick holder and peel away the silicone mold.

    • Trim the wick to about 1 cm above the candle surface.

  5. Decorating and Personalizing (Optional):

    • After unmolding, you may decorate your candle with glitter, essential oils, or wrap it as a thoughtful handmade gift.

Whether you make candles for personal enjoyment or as unique gifts, relax and take pleasure in the process. Discover the natural warmth and beauty that handcrafted beeswax candles bring to your home.
