Evaporator - 120 ml Lysoň
Formic and Acetic Acid Evaporator 120 ml
The 120 ml formic and acetic acid evaporator is a practical and effective solution for beekeepers who want to protect their bee colonies and stored combs from pests. Thanks to its smart design and evaporation control, it offers flexible use during various periods and conditions of the beekeeping season. With this dispenser, you can easily apply active substances while minimizing risks to your bee colonies and stored equipment.
Main Uses of the Evaporator in Beekeeping
- Varroa Mite Control: After honey extraction and during winter preparation, the dispenser is an ideal tool for protection against varroa mites, which weaken winter bee generations.
- Protection of Stored Combs: Acetic acid evaporation protects stored combs from wax moth infestation, whose larvae can degrade combs over time.
How to Use the Evaporator Correctly
-
Against Mites:
- Fill the dispenser with the recommended amount of formic acid (approx. 70-80 ml).
- Recommended use is at temperatures up to 23°C, preferably at the turn of summer and autumn.
- Allow the absorbent material to soak one day before placing in the hive.
- Place the evaporator on top of the brood chamber; Lyson covers have compatible openings for easy insertion without disruption, or you can insert it with a partition into an empty super.
- In the first phase, open it slightly so bees can get used to the smell, and only later gradually increase the evaporation area according to bee reaction and temperature.
- Evaporation intensity regulation is provided by six adjustment levels, allowing you to easily adapt the application according to colony strength and current conditions.
-
Protection of Combs Against Wax Moths:
- Store combs in a hive (or supers) and add the recommended amount of acetic acid to the dispenser.
- Make sure ventilation holes are closed to prevent vapor escape.
- Hang frames in the super more loosely - for example, 9 combs on 10 frames for better vapor circulation.
- Place the dispenser in the top section of the hive or in the opening in the crown board, fully open it for quick saturation of the space with vapors.
- Check the dispenser status according to the drying of the absorbent material, refill acid if necessary.
- When the temperature drops to 10°C or less, you can interrupt the process - pest activity ceases in cold environments.
Highly Effective and Safe Design
- The dispenser uses absorbent foam with a capillary effect - ensuring gradual and even evaporation of the substance.
- The 120 ml volume is sufficient for normal use and allows easy handling and repeated refilling.
- Six-level regulation allows precise adjustment of evaporation intensity according to colony size, external temperature, and humidity.
- A clear and simple system allows you to effectively protect colonies and equipment without unnecessary stress for the bees.
Safety and Recommended Procedures
- When handling formic and acetic acid, always use appropriate protective equipment - respirator with filter, rubber gloves, and protective clothing.
- Work with diluted acid (e.g., 65% formic acid solution), stronger concentrations require experience and increased caution.
- When used in Poland, the evaporator can also be used for applying formic acid in colonies to protect against varroa mites. In the Czech Republic, use the dispenser only for over-the-counter volatile substances (especially for protecting stored combs).
Main Product Benefits
- Easy application of formic or acetic acid to ensure healthy and stable colonies even during winter.
- Effective protection of stored combs without using synthetic preparations.
- Suitable for hobby beekeepers and larger operations.
- Practical size, easy use, and maintenance.
Technical Parameters
- Volume: 120 ml
- Material: durable plastic, absorbent foam (phenolic material)
- Six-level regulation of evaporation surface
- Possibility of repeated use
Tips for Effective Use
- Before each season, carefully check the condition of the dispenser, cleanliness, and functionality of the regulation system.
- After completing the process, allow combs to thoroughly air out before returning them to the hive - remaining formic or acetic acid odor may repel bees.
- Test optimal opening settings in different hive spaces to achieve maximum effect and minimum disturbance to bees.
Thanks to its universal use and simple operation, the 120 ml formic and acetic acid evaporator dispenser represents an essential tool for every beekeeper who wants to protect their colonies and equipment naturally.
