Professional double-roller system for maximum efficiency

The machine consists of two separate rolling units. The first unit with smooth rollers is used for pre-rolling the wax, while the second unit with engraved rollers embosses a perfect hexagonal cell pattern. The entire assembly is mounted on a robust steel stand that holds the machine firmly in place, preventing any vibration during operation. An integrated stainless steel tray facilitates water handling and provides a convenient surface for placing wax sheets. Each mill is also equipped with adjustment screws for very fine and precise setting of the foundation sheet thickness according to your needs.

A powerful electric motor (1500 W, 230 V) with a spur gearbox is engineered to ensure smooth and continuous workflow. A key advantage is the foot switch – you control the machine safely with your foot, while both hands remain free for precise guiding and removal of the wax sheet. Power is transmitted via a reliable chain drive. The result is completely safe and comfortable operation, even when working alone.

How foundation sheet production works in practice

1. Pre-rolling the wax: Melted wax is first poured into molds (e.g., silicone or Teflon-coated) to a thickness of approximately 10 mm. Once solidified, these wax slabs are warmed in a water bath and passed through the smooth rollers. These rollers produce a uniform sheet with a thickness of 0.8–1.0 mm. The rollers are sprinkled with water during milling (via a perforated tube connected to a hose with a pump) to prevent the wax from sticking.

2. Final rolling and embossing: The smooth wax sheet is then passed through the engraved rollers, which precisely emboss the cell pattern into it. The outgoing sheet is wound onto a shaft roller (not included) and subsequently cut to the desired frame size (e.g., 39×24 cm, Langstroth, etc.). You can also produce thicker foundation sheets (1.0 to 1.3 mm), which bees draw out into virgin comb more quickly. The typical weight of the finished foundation sheets ranges between 700–900 g/m².
