Electric foundation press
Electric Foundation Press with Table
Electric foundation press is a robust device for beekeepers who want to conveniently produce foundation sheets from their own beeswax in higher volumes. Own production brings a fundamental advantage: you have full control over the origin and purity of the wax, you avoid unwanted admixtures (e.g. paraffin) and at the same time significantly reduce the risk of introducing and spreading diseases, including American foulbrood. Thanks to the thoughtful design, one person can operate it without problems – the work is smooth, safe and saves time when processing wax.

The supporting part consists of a massive steel frame made of L profiles (47 × 47 × 3 mm) with durable green paint. The construction ensures stability during work and helps dampen motor vibrations. A great benefit for comfortable operation is the foot pedal, with which you simply start and stop the rollers – your hands remain free for precise guiding of the wax sheet. The machine includes precisely engraved rollers that emboss the typical hexagonal cell structure of the foundation.
Construction and Working Process
The work table has dimensions of 40 × 75 cm and height of 60 cm (total machine height is approximately 820 mm). A spacious stainless steel tray 30 × 50 cm with depth of 10 cm is practically integrated into the frame, which serves for placing finished foundation sheets and simultaneously catches water when spraying the rollers. The rollers are made of aluminum alloy with steel core, have a diameter of 73–74 mm and working length of 300–310 mm. The drive is provided by an electric motor with front gearbox, power transmission is solved by a durable chain. The roller speed is set to approximately 16 rpm, so that the operation is smooth and the cell imprint is uniform.
How production works: For best results, wax is often processed in two steps. First, molten wax is poured into molds, after solidification it is heated and pre-rolled on smooth rollers (can be ordered separately) into a continuous sheet with thickness of approx. 0.8–1.0 mm. This sheet is then pulled through the patterned rollers of the press, which create the cell relief. The foundation thickness can be finely adjusted with rectification screws (M10 × 65). During pressing, the rollers are lightly sprayed with water so that the wax does not stick. For own operation, thicker foundation sheets (approx. 1.0–1.3 mm) can also be produced, which bees often accept more readily and draw out faster. When building comb, bees typically use approximately 20–50% of the wax from the foundation and supplement the rest from their own wax scales.
