Alcohol refractometer KING 0 - 80 %
Alcohol Refractometer KING (0–80 %) – Professional Precision for Your Bee Products
Looking for a reliable way to determine the exact alcohol concentration in your homemade products? The KING refractometer with a range of 0 to 80% is an indispensable tool for every beekeeper who doesn't stop at honey but processes their hive gifts further. It's ideal for precise measurement of propolis tinctures, mead, homemade spirits, plum brandy and other distillates.

KING Model: More Durable Construction for Daily Practice
Compared to standard models (such as the Catania series), the KING version brings fundamental improvements that you'll appreciate with regular use. The instrument is equipped with a higher quality PMMA cover glass. This not only better resists mechanical scratching, but especially chemical effects of strong alcohol, which significantly extends the instrument's lifespan.
Another practical improvement is the placement of the calibration screw. It's located at the bottom of the instrument, which brings two main advantages for users:
1. Prevents accidental turning and detuning of the instrument during handling.
2. Minimizes the risk of water entering the optics when cleaning under running water.
Precision and Convenience Thanks to ATC
This optical instrument works on the principle of light refraction and allows you to determine results within seconds. The refractometer is equipped with an automatic temperature compensation (ATC) system. This means you don't need to perform complex result recalculations or constantly calibrate the instrument with slight ambient temperature changes (for example, when moving from a cold workshop to warmth).
Warning: This refractometer is designed for measuring volume percentage of alcohol in pure distillates and aqueous solutions (tinctures). It's not suitable for measuring liqueurs with added sugar or for measuring honey/mead sugar content.

Important Maintenance Notice
The refractometer is a precision optical instrument, so it deserves gentle handling. After each measurement, rinse the prism with lukewarm water, gently wipe and dry with a soft cloth. Do not rinse the instrument under running water and do not immerse it – water could get into the optical part. The refractometer is usually calibrated from the factory. Calibration liquid is not included in the package, but you typically don't need it right from the start for normal use.

Operating Instructions
USAGE METHOD
-
Preparation: Point the front end of the refractometer toward bright light and turn the eyepiece focusing ring until the scale is clearly visible.
-
Measurement: Open the cover plate and clean the measuring surface with a piece of soft cotton flannel. Drop 1–2 drops of the measured solution. Close the cover plate and gently press it, then read the light and shadow boundary on the corresponding scale. The reading is the numerical value of the measured liquid.
-
After measurement: Clean the measuring surface and cover plate with damp gauze and carefully store the instrument.
WARNINGS AND MAINTENANCE
-
Settings for zero liquid and sample should be performed at the same temperature. If temperature changes significantly, the zero point should be set once every 30 minutes.
-
After use, do not wash the instrument with water to prevent water from getting inside the instrument.
-
This is a precision optical instrument. Handle it gently and take good care of it. Do not touch the optical surface or scratch it. Store it in a dry, clean and non-corrosive environment to prevent the surface from molding and fogging. During transport, avoid strong impacts.
-
If consumers use the instrument according to the stated usage method, the optical performance should not change.
TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION
Reference temperature is 20 °C. During operation, temperature should be adjusted according to the correction table.
Models marked ATC are equipped with automatic temperature compensation. They have an additional function that allows the user to focus on measurement without worrying about temperature. The compensation range is 0~30 °C.
