The plastic wax melter Mellarius is a practical solution for small to medium beekeepers who want to avoid the tedious cutting out of old comb. Simply insert whole frames, start the steam generator and let the hot steam do the rest.
Advantages you'll appreciate when working with old comb
The biggest advantage is time and labor savings. Thanks to the spacious container (upper inner diameter 46 cm), you render wax directly from whole frames – without cutting and without unnecessary damage to the wiring during mechanical cleaning. The steam process also thermally disinfects the frames, which helps maintain better hygiene in operation and prepare material for the next season.
Unlike many sets that contain only a container and steam generator, Mellarius is supplied as a complete set ready for use. The package also includes a stainless steel bottom strainer (prevents clogging of the drain with cappings and impurities) and a stainless steel wax mold for convenient pouring.
Durable container and strong steam power
The container is made of heat-resistant thermoplastic – lightweight for handling, yet designed to easily handle temperatures during wax rendering. Steam generation is handled by the Mellarius generator with 2200 W power, which creates an intense steam flow and thus supports good yield when extracting wax.

Simple operation and safe use
Usage is easy: pour water into the generator (recommended 3 liters), connect the hose to the container with frames and turn on. Water heating takes approximately 10–15 minutes (process speeds up using hot water). One fill lasts about 50 minutes of operation, which usually suffices for processing one batch of frames.
Safety and tip for longer life: The generator is equipped with a safety switch – it automatically shuts off when water is insufficient. Then add cold water and the device will resume operation. To reduce scale formation on the heating element, we recommend distilled water. When opening the lid, proceed carefully and wait a moment after switching off to allow residual steam to escape.
