Varroa tester with CO2 dispenser
Varroa tester with CO2 dispenser – gentle and precise diagnosis of colony infestation
Keep the health status of your colonies under control without having to sacrifice a single bee. The Varroa tester with CO2 dispenser is a fast, modern and above all gentle method to determine the level of colony infestation by varroa mites (Varroa destructor) and obtain data for proper treatment timing.
Why monitor varroosis using CO2?
With conventional methods (e.g. alcohol wash) the bee sample is killed. With this tester, however, bees are only temporarily anesthetized. Carbon dioxide (CO2) temporarily immobilizes both bees and mites. After gentle shaking, the mites fall through the screen to the bottom of the container, where you can easily count them. The bees recover after a while in fresh air and you can return them to the hive unharmed.
Main benefits for beekeepers
You get more accurate data for treatment decisions without unnecessarily weakening the colony. The tester is designed for simple field work – you can perform the inspection directly at the apiary in just a few minutes.
Package contents and design
The set contains a solid plastic cylinder with a precise mesh (screen) that reliably separates mites from bees. For safe handling, two lids and a CO2 dispenser are included. The package also contains 2 starter cartridges (16 g); one cartridge is sufficient for approximately 6 tests (depending on sample size and dosage).
