Roller for releasing melezitose honey – helps save the brood comb

Are you troubled when extracting so-called cement (melezitose) honey, which crystallizes in the cells so much that it barely flows from the combs? You don't have to melt the combs immediately or give up on the brood comb. This spiked roller (hedgehog) is a practical tool for beekeepers when working with rapidly crystallizing and very thick honeys, such as melezitose or heather honey.

Why get a roller?

The greatest benefit is saving both honey and beeswax comb. With melezitose honey, even high speeds of the honey extractor are often insufficient, because the crystalline mass sticks in the cells. The roller spikes disrupt the honey structure directly in the comb and also help with uncapping. The honey then releases better and can realistically be extracted afterwards.

How to use the roller?
