Wire stainless steel queen excluder in size 463 × 482 mm is a reliable tool for beekeepers who want to have only honey in the honey super and make honey harvesting easier. The excluder is made of solid stainless steel wires permanently welded into a massive stainless steel frame. Thanks to its robust construction, it maintains its shape, does not warp, and will last for many years in normal hive operation.

Its purpose is to reliably separate the brood chamber from the honey super – the queen bee cannot pass through the excluder, remains in the brood area and does not lay eggs in the honey super combs. This way, no brood develops in the honey super and you obtain clean honey combs without unwanted impurities. The openings are precisely calibrated to allow worker bees to pass through easily, but not the queen.

Recommendations for Use in the Hive

For better passability and bee colony comfort, it is advisable not to place the excluder completely "tight" directly on the top bars of the frames, but to position it so that bees can move freely under the excluder. We recommend orienting the excluder wires parallel to the top bars, which will speed up and simplify the passage from the brood chamber to the honey super. This is a proven type of metal excluder also popular in foreign practice (especially in Germany).
