Pollen Trap Wide 403 x 148 mm

If you are engaged in beekeeping and want to maximize the collection of valuable pollen, a pollen trap is an indispensable helper in your hive. The wide pollen trap with dimensions of 403 x 148 mm is carefully designed for easy and efficient installation, either directly into the hive entrance or on the bottom of the hive through several pollen traps. This innovative tool allows bees to transfer pollen into the hive, while giving you the ability to easily capture the pollen.

How does the pollen trap work?

The pollen collection grid consists of several key components - the grid itself for bee passage, a pollen drawer for catching pollen, and a pollen trap grid. When bees penetrate through the grid, their pollen baskets fall through the grid and end up in the pollen drawer. The special design prevents bees from returning to the captured pollen, which significantly increases the efficiency and yield of collection.

Benefits and use of the pollen trap

The pollen trap represents a very simple and effective way to harvest pollen without endangering the bee colony. Although temporary disorientation of bees may occur, the device is designed to minimize potential stress. The installation of the pollen trap is very easy, ensuring that every beekeeper can handle it, whether a beginner or an experienced expert.

The importance of pollen for the bee colony

The pollen that bees collect is a key source of protein and other nutrients for them. Individual pollen grains are the male reproductive cells of plants that bees collect from flowers and reform into pollen baskets on their hind legs. To create two pollen baskets, a bee visits an average of up to 80 flowers of one species. The different colors of the pollen baskets allow us to determine which plants were visited. Pollen forms an essential part of the bees' diet, containing vitamins, minerals, and other elements necessary for the nutrition of adult bees and feeding larvae.

Effective pollen collection

The pollen trap is equipped with openings through which bees crawl and lose pollen. The pollen is then collected in a container below the pollen trap and is usually collected by the beekeeper once a day. It is recommended to use the pollen trap for a maximum of two to three days in a row to avoid protein deficiency for the bee colony.

By integrating a wide pollen trap into your hive, you will secure a valuable and rich source of pollen, which is not only important for bee nutrition but can also be used in other beekeeping products.
