Opalit marking discs without numbers are designed for clear and gentle marking of queen bees. A vivid colored disc makes it easy to quickly locate the queen during hive inspections and also helps determine her rearing year according to the internationally used color coding system. A marked queen is easily identifiable in the hive, simplifying the keeping of breeding records and routine work in the apiary.
The discs are lightweight, small, and when applied correctly, they do not restrict the queen's movement or egg laying in any way. A properly attached opalit disc can remain on the queen's thorax for her entire lifetime.
Simple and Gentle Queen Marking
The package contains 60 opalit marking discs without numbers in various color options. The disc is attached to the thorax of the queen bee using a suitable adhesive, such as acetone-based paint like Celox or Nicel, or regular nail polish. For gentle and reliable attachment, we also recommend shellac-based glue from our product range.
Always proceed carefully when marking and use only a small amount of adhesive. Do not use super glue (cyanoacrylate adhesive). It can damage the queen's legs, wings, or other body parts and endanger her further life in the colony.
