Hive Scale 3M
Metal Hive Scale 3M with Bee Hive Monitoring App
A hive scale for one hive is among the most practical tools for modern beekeeping – and at the same time, it's a great gift for every beekeeper who wants to have accurate data about their colonies. It's a simple yet precise device that continuously monitors changes in hive weight, helping to track nectar flow, consumption of stores, and overall colony development over time. Besides weight, the scale also records outdoor temperature and humidity, giving you a better overview of conditions at the apiary. Everything is clearly processed by the smart Bee Hive Monitoring app. Thanks to its universal construction, the scale is suitable for various types of hives, and installation and operation are quick and easy.

Smart Hive Monitoring from Anywhere
The Bee Hive Monitoring app is available for free for iPhone (iOS), Android, and for computers via web interface. It's localized in multiple languages including Czech and Slovak. In basic configuration, the scale communicates with the phone via Bluetooth. If you need to monitor data remotely without visiting the apiary, you can purchase an external GSM module that allows access to data from virtually anywhere. In the app, you'll find clear graphs in long time series, between which you can easily switch and evaluate daily, weekly, and monthly nectar flow progress. An advantage is also the available online support from the Slovak development team, with whom you can discuss questions and potential issues.

4 Most Common Reasons Why Your Bees Need a Hive Scale
1. Overview of nectar flow and honey stores: Honey flow is crucial for beekeepers. Thanks to the scale, you can easily tell when bees are bringing in nectar intensively, when there's a break, and how stores are developing. It helps you properly time honey extraction and decide how much honey to leave for the colony to have sufficient stores for overwintering and spring development during periods without nectar. With stored records, planning the next season becomes easier.
2. Winter security and reduced risk of losses: Winter is the most demanding part of the year for colonies, and losses are unfortunately not uncommon. A hive scale gives you a continuous picture of how quickly bees are consuming stores and whether it's necessary to intervene in time (e.g., supplement feed before winter). With abnormal behavior, the scale can also alert you to a problem in the colony – for example, when weight loss doesn't correspond to normal consumption.
3. Quick swarm detection: Colony swarming shows up as a significant and sudden weight drop. The scale can thus serve as a quick "alarm," thanks to which you can get to the apiary in time, check the situation, and prevent loss of bees and weakening of future nectar flow.
4. Targeted breeding of productive and healthy colonies: If you use multiple hive scales at one apiary, you can easily compare the performance of individual colonies. This significantly helps with selection – you can continue using the strongest colonies for breeding and address the cause of weakness in weaker ones early (e.g., queen replacement). Long-term, you'll get more uniform, healthier colonies and more stable honey yields.
Theft Protection
The scale sensors can also function as an effective security feature. The system can recognize unusual and sudden weight changes and alert you to possible hive manipulation or theft attempt. Thanks to quick notification, you can start addressing the situation without unnecessary delay.
