Top Wooden and Plastic Bee Feeder for Czechoslovak Hive

Do you need a proven and safe solution for winter feeding, spring stimulation, or water supplementation during hot days? The top feeder with a plastic tray with a usable volume of 5 liters is among the most practical choices for everyday apiary operation. It is placed directly on the super, seals well, and allows refilling of syrup or fondant calmly and quickly – without unnecessary disturbance to the bees and with minimal risk of stings. Precise fit on the super limits access by foreign bees, reduces robbing behavior, and helps prevent bee robbery. Feed can be conveniently poured from a bucket, through a hose from a pump, or from a tank.

Robust Construction for Long Service

The feeder consists of a solid perimeter frame made of 25mm wood (spruce or white pine), manufactured precisely for Czechoslovak hive dimensions. A sturdy plastic tray approximately 1.5–1.7 mm thick is set into a milled half-groove. The bottom is fully supported by a 3mm fiberboard, so the tray easily handles full load while creating a safe passage space for bees. The frame corners are carefully reinforced with water-resistant glue for higher resistance to moisture and stress.

Click System and Safe Feeding Without Drowned Bees

Bee safety is essential. This model uses a Click system (mechanical "velcro" principle), which eliminates the need to additionally weight the center covers with glass or stones. The plastic tunnels are placed on the center screen, pressed down – and after clicking, they hold firmly in place, so there is no risk of them floating when pouring syrup. The package includes two types of anti-drowning tunnels: with smaller openings for liquid solutions and with larger openings for thicker fondant. Ribbing on the inner walls facilitates bee movement, and the slightly sloped bottom toward the center helps remove feed almost completely. This limits old syrup remaining in corners and reduces the risk of mold.

Easy Cleaning and Practical Storage

Maintenance is quick and simple. After the season, just wash the smooth plastic insert with warm water and regular detergent. The feeder is designed to be placed on the top super and you can easily place a standard hive cover on it. Thanks to its compact dimensions and low weight (up to 3 kg), it is easy to handle even during off-season storage.

Warning: The 5 l plastic feeder (Ještěd type) is supplied from the factory in a universal size of 50 × 50 cm. Before first use, the tray must be trimmed precisely according to the internal dimensions of the Czechoslovak hive wooden frame.
