Thanks to the large entrance area, you can comfortably shake or brush bees from combs so they don't end up outside the container. The smooth sheet metal surface also helps bees quickly slide into the prepared space (hive, split, nuc box).

Less disturbance in the apiary and reduced robbing

A great advantage of the funnel is controlled bee transfer. After shaking, bees concentrate into an enclosed space (e.g., through an opening in the hive lid) and don't swirl unnecessarily around the stand. This reduces the risk of robbing and subsequent colony disturbance, which you'll appreciate especially during weak nectar flow or when working with nucs.
