Bee escape - Langstroth - 8 holes
Bee escape - Langstroth - 8 holes
Bee escape in frame for Langstroth beehive. The bee escape
frame consists of a perimeter wooden frame (35x25 mm profile) joined at the
corners by tenoning and glued together with waterproof glue, high density
fibreboard (HDF) inserted into a groove in the perimeter frame. In the centre of
the HDF board is a circular hole for the bee escape with a diameter of 78 mm to
allow bees access to the bee escape.
Place the bee escape in the frame under the honey extender, for example, the
evening before honey-making instead of the queen grid. Orient it with the
narrowed passage downwards, the circular hole upwards towards the honeycomb.
Close the trip hole from the front of the extensions. During the actual honey-making
process, the honey extensions will be free of bees. The bees can only pass
through this bee escape in one direction, so they will all gradually make their
way to the bottom of the hive. During one night, most of the bees manage to
retreat back to the bottom of the hive. The bee escape will make the job of
honey harvesting easier, you will no longer have to laboriously brush the bees
off the frames you want to dial in.
