Keep your hive entrance under control at all times with this universal circular plastic entrance disc. This practical accessory for hive bodies and mating nucs allows you to quickly adjust the entrance opening according to colony strength, season, and current apiary work. It helps protect bees from pests, facilitates treatment, and thanks to UV-resistant colored plastic, it reliably withstands demanding outdoor conditions.

Practical Entrance Regulation Without Unnecessary Disturbance to Bees

The greatest advantage is simple operation: by rotating the disc around the central screw, you quickly set the desired position. A single disc thus solves multiple situations that beekeepers commonly encounter during the season:

• Open (largest opening 24 mm): For full operation during honey flow. Bees have comfortable passage and even drones pass through without problems.

• Ventilation (perforation): Supports air circulation during summer heat, during transport, and in winter for better moisture removal. Simultaneously prevents entry of mice, hornets, and other pests.

• Screen (queen/drone excluder): Allows passage regulation as needed – typically retains the queen (e.g., when working with hive space) or drones, while workers can continue to fly freely.

• Closed: Complete closure of the entrance is suitable during transport, colony isolation, as prevention against robbing, or during autumn varroa treatment (e.g., during fumigation).

Bright Colors for Better Bee Orientation at the Apiary

Proper bee orientation at the apiary significantly affects colony calmness and queen rearing success. The disc is made from weather-resistant colored plastic and is available in five colors: white, yellow, red, blue, and green. Alternating colors on neighboring hives or hive bodies helps bees (and especially young queens after mating flights) better find "their" hive. This reduces drifting to foreign colonies, disease transmission risk, and queen loss.
