Keep your hive entrance under control at all times with a universal round plastic entrance disc. This practical accessory for supered hives and mating nucs allows you to quickly adjust the entrance opening according to colony strength, season, or current apiary work. It helps protect bees from pests, facilitates treatment, and thanks to UV-resistant through-colored plastic, it reliably withstands even demanding outdoor conditions.

Practical Entrance Regulation Without Unnecessary Disturbance to the Bees

The greatest advantage is simple operation: by rotating the disc around the center screw, you quickly set the desired position. A single disc thus addresses multiple situations that a beekeeper commonly encounters during the season:

• Open (largest opening 24 mm): For full operation during the honey flow. Bees have comfortable passage, and drones can pass through without difficulty.

• Ventilation (perforated): Promotes airflow during summer heat, during transport, and during winter for better moisture removal. At the same time, it prevents the entry of mice, hornets, and other pests.

• Grid (queen / drone excluder): Allows you to regulate passage as needed – typically retains the queen (e.g., when managing space in the hive) or drones, while worker bees can continue to fly freely.

• Closed: Complete closure of the entrance is suitable during transport, colony isolation, as prevention against robbing, or during autumn Varroa treatment (e.g., during fumigation).

Bright Colors for Better Bee Orientation at the Apiary

Proper bee orientation at the apiary significantly influences colony calmness and queen rearing success. The entrance disc is made from through-colored, weather-resistant plastic and is available in five colors: white, yellow, red, blue, and green. Alternating colors on neighboring hives or supers helps bees (and especially young queens after their mating flight) better find "their" hive. This reduces drifting into other colonies, the risk of disease transmission, and queen losses.
