Sulfur lamp used for sulfur wicks. Sulfur wicks burn in this metal lamp. By combustion, gases are produced to kill parasites in the honeycombs and hives or to dispose of diseased colonies.

Sulfur Lamp for Fumigating Combs – Effective Protection Against Wax Moth

Wax moth can damage stored combs and comb in supers in a short time. Sulfur lamp is a proven and affordable tool that helps protect beekeeping equipment and maintain hygiene of stored combs. The lamp construction is designed to support proper burning of sulfur wicks while increasing safety when working with open flame in enclosed spaces.

What it brings to your beekeeping practice

Safer sulfuring: When burning sulfur wicks, hot sulfur may drip. The metal body of the lamp catches burning residues inside the container, significantly reducing the risk of fire in storage, apiary, or when treating supers.

Even gas distribution: The lamp directs smoke through side vents into the space so that sulfur dioxide (SO2) spreads as evenly as possible. When used correctly, it helps reduce:

- wax moth eggs and larvae
- unwanted pests in combs and brood chamber
- mold spores and some bacteria on stored equipment

Easy operation and robust construction

Use is simple: hang the sulfur strip (wick) on the hook in the inner part of the lid, light it and close the lamp. Thanks to the vents, there is smoother air access, which helps stable burning and good combustion of the wick.

The lamp is made of durable metal. Due to the nature of combustion gases, surface corrosion may appear over time, which however does not limit functionality or further use. It is a practical tool for beekeeping operations where purpose and reliability matter.

Technical specifications

Material Metal
Height 20.5 cm
Diameter 9 cm
Purpose Burning sulfur wicks, disinfection, fumigating combs
Prevention Against wax moth

Tip for beekeepers: Sulfur dioxide is heavier than air and sinks down. Therefore, place the sulfur lamp in the upper part of the stack of supers or space you are treating – the gas will then better penetrate the entire volume and the effect will be more even.
