Bottom for Zander hive Liebig
Varroa Bottom Board Zander Liebig - Warm Construction
The entrance hole (hive entrance) is on the longer side of the bottom board, not on the front side. In summer, when the weather is warm, it is not necessary to have a varroa tray inserted in the bottom board. The Zander bottom board is designed so that bees have enough space under the frames to warm the brood. For fighting Varroa mites, we recommend products with formic acid. To increase the effectiveness of the treatment, it is advisable to have the varroa tray in place. With it, you can better seal the bottom and increase the effectiveness of the treatment.
Thanks to the screened bottom, the colony ventilates better. This helps them to be better connected with the outside world. The closer the bees are in contact with their environment, the better they can adapt to the weather, resulting in more successful development and consequently better honey harvest for us.
The beekeeper has the advantage of being able to check how the colony is doing at any time. You can monitor falling debris and thus obtain valuable information about the colony. Prevention in this regard is really important.
The price of the bottom board does not include the plastic drawer, which is not necessary for proper functioning of the floor. You should purchase a drawer for monitoring mite drop. Alternatively, for better sealing of the bottom when using formic acid. You can select it for an additional fee before adding to cart.
